Grenadier Officer’s Mitre Cap
Possibly British North American Colonies
1763-1768
According to family tradition, the mitre cap was worn by a grenadier in the Regiment of the Duke of Albany during the French and Indian War. The grenadier was befriended by Col. Mark Hopkins (born 1739) of Stockbridge, MA, and gave Col. Hopkins the cap in appreciation for helping him after being wounded.
